Each of GFC’s 18 chapters are chaired by volunteers such as Kathy Hallsten.
Co-chair of the Palo Alto chapter, Kathy graduated from Stanford, earned her medical degree from UCSF, and has been practicing medicine in the Bay Area for more than 25 years. Like her fellow chairs, Kathy is involved with GFC because she loves California and wants it to provide excellent services to residents at reasonable costs to taxpayers. Kathy also supports GFC with donations.
As explained here, chapters are not a new idea in California. Special interests have long had them. Their donations are public (e.g, the Palo Alto chapter’s donations for the first half of 2021 are here). A review of donations made by all the chapters will give you a sense of the GFC ecosystem.
