Earlier today, US Congressman Ro Khanna gave us an opportunity to point out something we’ve been waiting for some CA state legislators to discover:
Believe it or not, @RoKhanna, Medicare isn't good enough for retired CA state employees, so the state diverts billions from services to provide EXTRA subsidies to them. If Medicare is good enough for All, shouldn't it be good enough for retired state employees? https://t.co/hEFrUa4k2f

Every year the California Legislature supplies more than Medicare to retired state employees. In fact, the state spends nearly $5 billion a year to supply retired state employees with more than Medicare, the Affordable Care Act and Covered California, which together offer the most robust health insurance offered by any state and to the highest levels of income but still the Legislature thinks that’s not enough for retired state employees. We hope to change that this year. If Medicare, the Affordable Care Act and Covered California are good enough for the rest of us, they should be good enough for retired state employees.
